With a broken heart, we would like to pay tribute to our QC manager and close friend Paul Ellwood who passed away yesterday at the age of 51. Paul has been with Ragdoll Home from the beginning of our journey, and has been an integral part of our very close family team. Ragdoll Home would not be where we are today without Paul, and with all the changes and influences he made. His attention to detail and dedication to his job was truly amazing. Words cannot describe how we all feel and we cannot imagine the workshop or life without him and his ‘second to none’ sense of humour. This man was a true gentle giant, with a heart of gold.
He was diagnosed with cancer only 5 months ago. Even when he had been diagnosed he thought of others and how it was affecting them rather than himself.
He was one of a kind.
Our thoughts are with all Paul’s family.
We love you Paul and we will miss you so much. ❤️

I met Paul at Preston Polly, ( university of central Lancashire ) in 1991.
As soon as we met, we were inseparable, the best of friends and eventually we ended up as flat mates. .
At university Paul was always charming and funny and everyone that came into contact with him, loved him…fact. ladies fancied him and men wanted to be like him. He was a great dancer and loved clubbing, not just because of the music; but because he loved the feeling of everyone being harmonious with everyone else.
He was an exceptional human being, so I find it unfathomable that things should end this way.

A night out in Skipton was somewhat spoilt when I was refused entry into the Waterfront nightclub. I was 17, my mates were all 18. They chose to stay & leave me to go home to Hetton. I waited up for Paul who rolled in about 5 am (Paul was 16)
"Where may you have been"? (or similar) I said.
"Town, Waterfront then Staffus"
"Have you got fake ID"?
"I don't need ID, Staz. Maybe I look older than you"!?
I went to bed.
Much later that same morning, Helen said
"You didn't miss anything Stephen, I don't like the Waterfront, the music's rubbish"
So even my mum was cooler than me!?
Staffus wasn't another club as I thought, it was a house in Skipton where some of staff, from The Angel, lived!
